WHEN DOES THE CLUB MEET & WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

WHAT FEES ARE INVOLVED & PAYMENT OPTIONS?

Colchester Junior Chess Club meets in person for over-the-board games and a lesson from Coach Catabay on Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30 pm (term-time). Both beginners and more advanced players are welcome.

 

We also meet online for online games with a group lesson from Coach Catabay on Thursdays from 4:00-6:00 pm.

An email will be sent weekly with links for the online club. Coach Catabay provides group lessons for beginner and advanced players, and goes over individual member's progress. 

Colchester Junior Chess Club is a not-for-profit organisation, but we do have fees to keep our club going. 

Fees include a term-time commitment and can be split into 3 monthly payments for your convenience.

Membership fees are:

£6 a week for Tuesday 'Over the Board' & includes membership fees

£6 a week for Thursday Online & includes membership fees

£10 a week for both Tuesday and Thursday club days.

DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING WITH ME?

For Tuesday's in-person club, the boards and clocks will be provided and we also offer a little snack and a drink. You are welcome to bring your own water bottle or snack.

*Please let us know of any food allergies or restrictions.

For Thursday's online club, you will need to create a free Lichess account and have access to Zoom. You will receive a link weekly.

TOURNAMENTS AND CLUB PARTICIPATION

Colchester Junior Chess Club will send links via email to join weekly tournaments. Some tournaments are played as a club, interclub, or individually to represent the club.

Tournaments are played over the board or online in Lichess.

Information and links for tournaments are sent by email and is not compulsory to compete to be a member of the

Colchester Junior Chess Club.
