WHEN DOES THE CLUB MEET & WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
WHAT FEES ARE INVOLVED & PAYMENT OPTIONS?
Colchester Junior Chess Club meets in person for over-the-board games and a lesson from Coach Catabay on Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30 pm (term-time). Both beginners and more advanced players are welcome.
We also meet online for online games with a group lesson from Coach Catabay on Thursdays from 4:00-6:00 pm.
An email will be sent weekly with links for the online club. Coach Catabay provides group lessons for beginner and advanced players, and goes over individual member's progress.
Colchester Junior Chess Club is a not-for-profit organisation, but we do have fees to keep our club going.
Fees include a term-time commitment and can be split into 3 monthly payments for your convenience.
The breakdown of fees are:
£6 a week for Tuesday 'Over the Board' & includes membership fees
£6 a week for Thursday Online & includes membership fees
£10 a week for both Tuesday and Thursday club days.
DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING WITH ME?
For Tuesday's in-person club, the boards and clocks will be provided and we also have a little snack and a drink. You are welcome to bring your own water bottle but only need to bring the fun! *Please let us know of any food allergies or restrictions.
TOURNAMENTS AND CLUB PARTICIPATION
Colchester Junior Chess Club will send links via email to join weekly tournaments. Some tournaments are played as a club, interclub, or individually to represent the club.
Most tournaments are played online in Lichess, but more in person, 'over the board' tournaments are taking place.
Information on tournaments is sent weekly and is not compulsory to be a member of the
Colchester Junior Chess Club.
IF THE PLAYER IS UNWELL
We politely ask club members to stay at home if feeling ill. We will provide a link to the online club for any club member who is not feeling well.
