Lichess has fantastic resources and is free to join and play. Many of the online tournaments are played on this platform.

 ChessKid is a child-friendly platform for kids who are just beginning or may have an interest in chess. It's free to join and play but also has a paid option. There are many kid-friendly instructional videos available.
